Our Port Allen client is looking for a Reliability Superintendent for their refinery.
Job Responsibilities:- Responsible for improving mechanical integrity program for all fixed equipment.
- Responsible for assessing all fixed equipment mechanical failures, diagnosing root cause of failures, planning mitigation strategies and developing engineered solutions to problems
- Provide leadership and engineering support for the Inspection Department
- Managing the Inspection Department personnel and day to day operations
- Represent the Inspection Department both within the refinery and at professional association gatherings (NACE, API, UOP, AFPM, etc.)
- Review drawings and calculations by 3rd party fabrication and design engineering companies
- Perform stress calculations as necessary on piping and vessels
- Review and approve repair and welding procedures on fixed equipment
- Create and review turnaround scope with regards to MI requirements and scheduled inspection due dates
- Audit departmental databases (PCMS and API RBI) as necessary to ensure quality of data and timeliness of inspections
- Serve as site Risk Based Inspection (RBI) champion for program implementation, execution and ever greening
- Plan and organize special emphasis inspection programs such as CUI, CUF, digital radiography of high risk piping circuits, retroactive PMI, etc.
- Update company specifications to include the latest technology and methodologies
- Have a practical understanding of Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity(FEMI) and all of its essential elements
- Update and review Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity procedures
- Provide materials selection (insulation, coatings, metallurgies, etc.) support for maintenance and engineering departments
- Plan and organize engineering assessments and improvement programs such as CCD, IOW, and RBI re-assessments
- Monitor, manage and report IOW deviations throughout the facility
- Serve as Planning Section Chief for reported incidents
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance with emphasis on fixed equipment reliability.
- Previous experience in a refinery or chemical plant is desirable
- Knowledge and experience with industry codes and standards desirable (ASME VIII, IX, 31.3, API 570,650, ETC...)
- Ability to serve as Subject Matter Expert on corrosion, inspection strategies, metallurgy, and various damage mechanism’s
- Ability to correlate process operating conditions to the most likely damage mechanism
- Familiarity with forms of nonmetallic coatings, insulation, and fireproofing materials
- Knowledge of API/ASME codes and NACE standard and recommended practices
- Have an understanding of current mechanical integrity improvement efforts in the industry, such as IOW, RBI, and CCD programs and ability to manage them
- Knowledge of inspection practices and experience determining inspection methods best suited for specific damage mechanisms
- Experiences recommending and approving various repair techniques
- Knowledge of various welding techniques as well as stress relieving methods and requirements
- Experience with the RBI development and evergreen/reassessment process
- Ability to perform Level 1 and Level 2 Fitness for Service Assessments for equipment and piping
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of refinery personnel
- Ability to integrate with Inspection department and review corrosion rates, aid with inspection planning efforts, assist in developing mitigation strategies, etc.
- Ability to learn and apply mechanical engineering concepts
- Experience reading and interpreting information engineering drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, and vessel design information such as a U1
- Ability to determine root cause of failure and communicate findings through a failure analysis report
- Computer literacy skills, with ability to operate software such as Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint, PCMS, API RBI, Code Calc, PvElite, Tank, FFS Signal and Maximo
- Working knowledge of refinery machinery and process equipment and associated maintenance practices
